If Error code 2 is flushing in your control head screen, it is either a piston jammed in position code, or the motor is stalled or there is a tear/debris in one of the seals or spacers and will need to be taken apart to check. Please follow the steps below on how to check them:
Step 1: Make sure to depressurize the unit first.
- Before you tear anything down, take the front cover off and use a volt meter. Put it into a manual regeneration (see steps below on how to run a manual regen) and test the voltage going from the circuit board to the motor.
-
To release the pressure off the unit, there are two ways you can do this. Shut the water off to the home and run a few sinks till the pressure is gone and then bypass the water softener.
- You can then turn the water back on in the home.
- You can also Bypass the softener and do the following to release the pressure.
- To start a manual regeneration hold the menu key till it beeps, then hit menu once so date and time highlights scroll down so manual regeneration is highlighted and hit set.
- Select regen now and hit set you can hold any key for 3 seconds to advance to the next cycle (once a step starts counting down) and can do this till it is either in Backwash or the Rinse cycle either one is fine. Let it run for 60 seconds.
- Skip the remaining steps until it says returning to service.
- Also, feel the motor and see if it’s super hot or cold to the touch when in a regeneration.
Step 2: Check the pistons and seal:
